Self Esteem

Self Esteem
Self-Esteem and Self-Worth is not something changed overnight, but instead a series of events that validate a notion of the self either positively or negatively. While we may not have much control over what happens to us, we can change perspective. All it takes is one flaw to be identified in a negative notion of the self, to start distrusting it. In therapy, these discoveries happen, along with opportunity to exchange that trust and validity into a much more positive cognition of the self.
Signs of Low Self-Esteem include:
- Saying negative things and being critical about yourself
Focusing on your negatives and ignoring your achievements
- Thinking other people are better than you
- Not accepting compliments
- Feeling sad, depressed, anxious, ashamed, or angry
- Difficulties with relationships
- Substance abuse
- Emotional eating
- Sensitivity to criticism
- Social withdrawal
- Jealousy
