Depression
"It’s so difficult to describe depression to someone who’s never been there, because it’s not sadness. I know sadness. Sadness is to cry and to feel. But it’s that cold absence of feeling—that really hollowed-out feeling."
J.K Rowling- Developer
Depression
One of the hardest things a person can do is fix something without first identifying the problem. Depression is one of those things, and it can be challenging to decipher depression from sadness and fatigue. However, we often invalidate these symptoms and bring shame to them, saying it’s ‘lack of motivation,’ ‘laziness,’ ‘I have nothing to be depressed about, ‘I should be grateful for what I have.’ It can be seen as a weakness, and if not seen for what it is, it will not change or improve. Depression is ‘not your fault,’ it can be genetic, chemical, and often can be helped with different treatment strategies. Therapy can help identify, validate, and finally find hope for improvement.
